MNS Announces NSMW Travel Bursary

(August 17, 2022) - Music Nova Scotia is pleased to announce a new bursary program to coincide with Nova Scotia Music Week’s 25th anniversary: the NSMW Travel Bursary Fund. The NSMW Travel Bursary is a 3-year program created to make $10,000 available per year for artists and bands traveling for NSMW thanks to the generous support from the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism, and Heritage. This is another way for MNS to show new ways it’s supporting members and nurturing an ever-growing relationship with Nova Scotian musicians.

For the last 25 years, Music Nova Scotia has hosted NSMW in various regions of the province. MNS is proud of the growth of NSMW to become a sought-after provincial event in Nova Scotia, while also recognizing the cost to artists who travel from great distances to attend. The NSMW Travel Bursary Fund offers $75 for the first eligible traveler and $30 per extra group member to a maximum of 5 group members. The program is for groups and individual artists who are traveling outside of their home city for the conference, and who are unable to get FACTOR funding.

The Nova Scotian Music industry is experiencing tremendous growth; Music Nova Scotia celebrates the efforts of all artists across the province. The organization wishes to continue a great relationship with its members, listen to them, and provide solutions for their respective careers.
