In her role as Nighttime Mayor, Angela has worked to improve the safety of downtown Iowa City as well as improve the relationship between the nighttime businesses, the city, University and other community organizations.
Angela was born in South Korea and moved to Iowa City in the early 90’s. A graduate of West High, a local high school and the University of Iowa, she was familiar with several issues facing downtown and the nightlife when taking this role. As a board member of the Iowa City Downtown District and an active community member, she advocated for increased inclusivity, a focus on safety & cleanliness and improving the nightlife in the heart of the community.
During the day, Angela is the Chief of Retail Operations for a locally owned coffee company. She works to improve the experience young people have in the community while attending the U of I, helping them find their voices in the community, in both positions. Angela was recently nominated and selected as on of the Corridor Area’s Forty Under 40, an award for those working to improve the community for all.
