On her newest project, “The Ice” (out winter 2018), Mikol leaps from neo-folk to fauxtronic – a symphony of distorted sub-bass, delay-soaked electric guitars, and insistent drums pushed through analog effects and recorded to two-inch tape at Halifax’s Sonic Temple. The result is a surprising marriage of Mikol’s characteristically impeccable songwriting with lush, gritty sonics. Now, in studio or onstage with her full band, Mikol’s songs and voice are uncontainable.
