Mike is a graduate with honors of NSCC’s Recording Arts program, and completed his work term at the award-winning recording studio Lakewind Sound (co-owned by Gordie Sampson & Fred Lavery). As former lead guitarist in the Halifax based band Faded Blue, he contributed to writing their hit song “Turn it Up”, which reached number one on the East Coast Countdown. In 2014 as part of the duo Adrianne & Mike, he was a recipient of the Celtic Colours Festival Driver’s Association’s “Big Sampie” Award, and has performed at the Celtic Colours International Festival, and other festivals and venues throughout Atlantic Canada. Mike’s original songs have garnered international radio play and have even been covered as far away as Germany. Mike, a performer and songwriter in his own right, is currently Manager, Booking Agent, and Sound Technician for North Highlands Community Culture Centre in Cape North, Nova Scotia. An intimate and welcoming atmosphere in an old church with amazing acoustics, the Culture Centre is quickly becoming known as one of the best venues to play in Cape Breton. Acts that have performed at the Culture Centre in the past year include Dave Gunning, Coig, Pretty Archie, Chrissy Crowley, Colin Grant, and Robert Bouchard just to name a few.
