We’ve all heard the horror stories – whether in the media or from a friend that signed a “bad deal”. Join entertainment lawyer Matt Gorman in a discussion about music industry contract “red flags”. This session is no substitute for obtaining legal advice before signing a contract, but dealing with red flags often requires artists to understand what is “industry standard” from the outset, and sticking up for yourself when presented with a one-sided contract. Recreation therapy can play a vital role in supporting musicians and artists who are

transitioning their serious leisure into a livelihood. By providing targeted interventions that

address burnout, identity formation, motivation, and social connectedness, recreation

therapists can help creative professionals maintain their well-being and preserve the joy and meaning that originally inspired their engagement in music or art.

In this intervention, leisure sampling will be used to help clients explore new activities and

how to take them from passive to active leisure to maximize health benefits.
